Talk in the Dongtai Road neighborhood is that the antiques street, which was set up in 1985, is going to be demolished. Residents of the next door lane neighborhood have been told their neighborhood will be pulled down at the end of 2014, and the wrecking crew is already piling up the wood from demolished houses in another lane.

October 2014 Update: the Dongtai Road shops will be closed on October 15, and the stalls will linger on for two more months or so.
